Andrew Baxter studied Art and Design at New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, NY. After earning a BFA from the California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA, he worked as Senior Artisan for Tallix Art Foundry, Peekskill, NY from 1981-1986 doing bronze casting, metal finishing, assemblage, and patination for artists such as Stella, Lichtenstein, DeKooning, Graves, Dali, Marisol, Johns, Frankenthaler, and Oldenburg. Andrew became Project Manager at Shearer Studio in New York City, where he oversaw mold construction, wax model production, lost wax bronze casting, and patination. Andrew is the Founder and President of Bronze et al, Ltd. based in Charlotte, VA. His work includes the conservation, restoration, and installation of sculpture, objects, and monuments, primarily for metals, stone, and plaster. He has worked extensively with institutions such as, The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC., The White House, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian American Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the Getty Museum. He has presented numerous workshops and lectures at the Getty, the North Carolina Museum of Art for SERCA, and at the National Gallery of Art.
