About me
Aidi Bao is a Ph.D. candidate in Preservation Studies at the University of Delaware, and currently a graduate intern at the Getty Conservation Institute. Before this, she worked as an Andrew W. Mellon fellow at the Objects Conservation, Metropolitan Museum of Art from 2022-2023, and as a project specialist for the survey and digital documentation of wall paintings and clay sculptures at various heritage sites in China, 2016-2018. Aidi also holds a M.Sc in Archaeological Materials Science from the European Erasmus Mundus joint program and a M.Arch and B.Arch in architecture from Tsinghua University, Beijing. Aidi’s research interests are material analysis and historical interpretation of Asian lacquerware and decorative surfaces in general.
