MMN1(SS) Brendan G. Perry (BA, Studies in War and Peace) is the Sailor Assigned to the Curatorial Department at the US Navy Submarine Force Museum and Historic Ship Nautilus (SSN 571) in Groton, CT. MMN1(SS) Perry graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Norwich University Corps of Cadets in Northfield, VT in 2015. He then enlisted in the Navy, graduating from the US Navy Nuclear Power Training Program and reporting to the USS New Mexico (SSN 779) as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate in 2017. While aboard USS New Mexico he completed an extended dry-docking availability, led teams of both engineering personnel and Navy Diver/SEAL support personnel, and served as Engineering Watch Supervisor during a 7-month overseas deployment. MMN1(SS) Perry reported to the Submarine Force Museum in 2021. While here, he has had tenures as both team manager and training manager, and his efforts as event coordinator on behalf of the command’s education department and Naval History and Heritage Command’s Communications and Outreach Division have reached an estimated half a million members of the American public. As the Sailor Assigned to the Curatorial Department, he has served as a liaison between civilian collections staff and the military command, served as subject matter expert for identification of all submarine-related artifacts, and provided research assistance to the curator to ensure the military accuracy of all exhibits and public-facing material.
