About me
Ana Gabriela Calderón is a Conservation Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, working with the Time-Based Media and Digital Art Working Group in Washington, D.C. She holds a BA from Mexico’s National School of Conservation, where she specialized in the conservation of contemporary art. Her desertation thesis, "Aproximación metodológica al proceso de reintegración cromática por simulación virtual", was developed in collaboration with Tania Mejía and focused on the use of digital software for the chromatic reintegration of artworks and cultural objects.
During her time as an intern at the Seminar-Workshop on the Restoration of Modern and Contemporary Art at ENCRYM, Ana Gabriela worked on conservation treatments and documentation of the murals from the "Tepito Arte Acá" project. She also contributed to the photogrammetry and 3D modeling of the artwork: El Comienzo, El Cimiento, La Simiente Latente by Arnaldo Coen, part of the collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC) of the The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)
