About me
Dr. Celia Chari is the Beal Family Postdoctoral Fellow in conservation science at the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies at Harvard. She earned her B.A. in Nanoscience, Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin, and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Science from the California Institute of Technology. During her doctorate, she investigated the degradation of low-fired pottery from acidic environments and researched historic production methods of overglaze enamels from Meissen. She is passionate about the intersection between science and art, and experiments with hand-made paints at home, procured from mineral and plant-based pigments that she finds on hikes, or simply from her kitchen.
