Christel Pesme holds the position of Chief Conservator/ Deputy Director (Conservation Service) at the Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC) - the centralised storage and conservation facility of the National Heritage Board of Singapore- since 2021.
Christel graduated from the Master program in conservation of works on paper at the University of Paris 1-Panteon-Sorbonne in Paris. She then worked at the GCI's Preventive Conservation Science Group under the supervision of Jim Druzik from 2008 to 2012 . She has since lectured extensively on the use of Microfadometry to formulate display recommendations and contributed to the guideline on Microfading Tester: Light Sensitivity Assessment and Role in Lighting Policy, published in 2021 by the Getty Conservation Institute on this topic.
Prior to her current position at HCC, Christel has held the position of Senior Conservator at M+ Museum in Hong Kong, leading the conservation team from 2017 to 2020. For the last couple of years, she has focused her efforts on developing practical ways to implement more sustainable practices of collection use and care, especially in hot and humid climates, by integrating an evaluation of the item's cultural values in the risk assessment framework.
