About me
Georgina Rayner is a Conservation Scientist at the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, Harvard Art Museums. Georgina holds a Masters and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Warwick (UK). At the Straus Center, Georgina specializes in the identification of organic materials and has worked on many technical investigations studying the materials used in artworks, including a survey to identify the plastics present in objects in the collection, John Singer Sargent’s paint palettes and the pigments and binders used by Aboriginal artists in traditional bark paintings.
