About me
Kerstin Kracht is a vibration technology and continuum mechanics engineer who has applied and shared her expertise in vibration and shock prevention within the field of art and cultural heritage preservation for the last twenty years. Kerstin studied physical engineering and completed her PhD at the Technische Universität Berlin in 2011, investigating the vibration behavior of oil paintings depending on degradation and ageing. After being employed as a postdoc and development engineer in the environmental testing industry, she has worked for over seven years as an independent consulting engineer for the museum field, which she combined with teaching and research positions as a visiting professor for the mechanics of works of art and cultural objects at universities in Berlin and Bremen, Germany. Kerstin is currently a senior researcher and lecturer in her field at the TU Berlin.
