About me
Laura Bryant serves as the NAGPRA Coordinator at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With over 10 years of collections stewardship and NAGPRA experience, she specializes in repatriation and all components of collections care. Bryant has led in large collections construction and relocation projects and helped lead Gilcrease's curatorial team in relationship building, consulting, and collaborating with Native American tribes in the development of the exhibitions for the opening of Gilcrease's new facility. She has developed and continues to grow Gilcrease's NAGPRA program and proactive compliance efforts. In 2021, Bryant co-founded and began co-facilitating the Indigenous Collections Care working group, which is developing a Guide with the Indian Arts and Research Center (IARC) and the School for Advanced Research (SAR) and funded by an IMLS National Leadership Grant for Museums award. The Guide, expected to be freely and publicly available in 2026, will provide museums a framework to recenter collections stewardship practices around the needs and knowledge of Indigenous community members.
