About me
Laurie has extensive experience in museum and historic site management, including strategic planning, executive search, collections, exhibitions, interpretations, public programs, and academic initiatives.
Dr. Ossman graduated with honors from Brown University, earning her Master's degree in Architectural History from the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, followed by her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, also from UVA. She is also the author of several books including Carrere and Hastings: The Masterworks, with Heather Ewing (NY: Rizzoli USA, 2011), and Great Houses of the South (NY: Rizzoli USA, 2010), as well as a primary contributor to The Smithsonian’s History of America in 101 Objects (NY: Penguin, 2013). She authored the introduction to Summer Houses by the Sea: the Shingle Style (NY: Rizzoli USA, 2019). Her most recent book The Gentleman’s Farm, with Debra McClane (NY: Rizzoli USA) was released in March 2016 and featured in The New York Times in December 2016.
