About me
Nicola Macdonald is an Assistant Conservator at RLA Conservation in Miami, Florida, where she specializes in the conservation of historic materials, including public art and architecture, in South Florida’s subtropical environment. She earned an MSc in Architectural Conservation and Archaeological Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania in 2023, where she focused on material analysis to inform conservation strategies for cultural heritage. Her research included the analytical study of objects in the Penn Museum’s Egyptian and Nubian Galleries and the investigation of historic finishes at sites throughout Philadelphia. Nicola has worked as a Conservation Technician in Washington, D.C., Salt Lake City, and Florence, Italy. She is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology and the American Institute for Conservation and serves as the Miami co-liaison for AIC’s Emerging Conservation Professionals Network.
