About me
Jeff Martin is a Time-Based Media Conservator, working in private practice in Chicago. He is a 2005 graduate of NYU's Moving Image and Archiving Preservation master’s degree program, and was a 2007 Smithsonian research fellow at the Hirshhorn Museum. From 2013 through 2023 he was the Time-Based Media Art Conservator for the Kramlich Collection, a major private collection based in San Francisco. He has also worked as a consultant on time-based media art conservation for museums including the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Honolulu Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Seattle Art Museum. In addition to serving for as Program Chair for the Electronic Media Group of the American Institute for Conservation, he has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has worked as both a producer of and archival film researcher for television and feature documentaries.
