About me
Amy Hughes is a Paper Conservator at the National Gallery of Art. She has held fellowships at the National Gallery of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art. Her prior experience includes graduate internships at Daria K. Conservation, Scott Gerson Conservation, NYU's Libraries and Special Collections, and the Morgan Library & Museum. Amy graduated in 2014 from NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Center with an MA in Art History and an Advanced Certificate in Art Conservation. Amy's focus on refining innovative cleaning techniques for paper using gels and conductivity-adjusted waters has led to collaborative workshops and publications in the BPG Annual. Her enthusiasm for paper history and printmaking has shaped recent essays on Kenneth Tyler, Jasper Johns, and Tatyana Grosman. She is the 2023-2024 Program Chair for the Book and Paper Group.
