About me
Nicola Macdonald is an Assistant Conservator at RLA Conservation in Miami, Florida, where she undertakes the preservation and treatment of historic materials in challenging subtropical and marine environments, focusing on architecture, outdoor sculptures, and artifacts across South Florida. In 2023, she earned her MSc. in Architectural Conservation and Archaeological Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania, where she honed her expertise in material analysis to inform conservation strategies for cultural heritage. During her studies, Nicola contributed to the assessment and preservation of significant sites around Philadelphia and worked on ancient Egyptian tomb artifacts at the Penn Museum. Her earlier roles as a Conservation Technician across the U.S. and in Florence, Italy, provided her with broad experience in treating a wide array of materials, from architecture, archaeological artifacts, objects, and paintings, laying a strong foundation for her current work.
