About me
Rosa Lowinger is 1984 graduate of the Conservation Center at NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts and a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation. She founded Los Angeles' Sculpture Conservation Studio and RLA Conservation of Art + Architecture an architecture and objects studio based in LA and Miami specializing in contemporary art, historic buildings, and municipal public art collections. Rosa was the 2008-2009 Rome Prize Fellow in Conservation at the American Academy in Rome with a project researching the history of vandalism. She is a Fellow of the Association for Preservation Technology, a board member of the Florida Association of Museums, the Cuban Heritage Collection at University of Miami and the Florida Association of Public Art Professionals. Rosa has led disaster recovery efforts for dozens of fires, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes and regularly lectures on the topics of disaster management and planning. Born in Havana, Cuba, She is the author of dozens of articles on conservation, and the popular nonfiction books "Tropicana Nights: The Life and Times of the Legendary Cuban Nightclub," and "Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction."
Dwell Time: A Memoir of Art, Exile, and Repair was published by Row House Publishers on October 10, 2023 and has received rave reviews in mainstream media.
