About me
Dr. Ruth del Fresno-Guillem is a researcher who cares, raises awareness, and conserves contemporary art in private practice internationally. Her work offers a window into the conservation practice –preventive and remedial for art professionals and agencies. Working towards awareness development and artist research intended to provide technical assistance and capacity building to give artists agency over preserving, documenting, and making conscious decisions on their work. In 2017, she received her Ph.D. from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain. She believes in building long-term relationships with artists to enhance their understanding of the creative process and facilitate decision-making and documentation. Some of her more recent clients are the Diriyadh Biennale Foundation (Saudi Arabia), Qatar Museums (Museum of Islamic Art, National Museum, Museum of Modern Arabic Art, Museum of Sports), the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), The Power Plant, and the City of Toronto, among others. She collaborates with VoCA (Voices in Contemporary Art), and since 2023, she has been the conductor of their artist's interview workshop’s Spanish version. The artist’s voice has been the core of her practice, either to work with public art or when working privately. Her interest in research takes her to accept continuous challenges in the arts community, such as methodologies to possible strategies for preserving performance art or inclusive perspectives of the idea of preservation. As a Spanish background, she collaborates in many arts-related projects as a translator or mediator to create bridges within communities. She has an extended experience conducting workshops and talks. TestimoniArt is her always-in-progress free access platform with some interviews at www.ruthdelfresno.com
