About me
Shauna Young is the Senior Conservator at Modern Art Conservation, having joined in 2010. She holds an MA in Art History and an Advanced Certificate in Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Center at NYU. Her early professional experience includes training at The Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the NYU Villa La Pietra in Florence. As MAC’s Senior Conservator, Shauna treats some of the most challenging surfaces and has developed expertise in the preservation of minimalist and color field paintings and was part of the select group of conservators to participate in the Conserving Canvas: Cotton Duck Workshop at Harvard Art Museums. In addition to her work at MAC, she co-teaches the graduate course Examination and Treatment of Modern and Contemporary Paintings at the IFA and leads workshops in conservation and conservation-adjacent fields. Shauna is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
