About me
Sophie Scully is an Associate Conservator in the Department of Paintings Conservation at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has worked in the department since 2012 as a graduate intern, an Annette de la Renta fellow, and a Research Scholar, and was appointed to the staff in 2016. She works primarily on European paintings of the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries, with a focus on the technical study and treatment of early Northern paintings. She received her BA in art from Williams College and an MA in art history and a certificate of advanced study in conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University in 2013.
